William –
Perfect as are all my Merrill shoes.
William –
Really good work boot. Tried on
and worked cutting wood on Tug
Hill in upstate NY. Perfect. Ordered
a second pair for NJ. You can’t go
wrong with these in my opinion.
Hugo –
It’s excellent, I love it… I can stay working all day with these boots and I feel solo good at the end of the day. In my position I have to make until 30000 steps per day…
McGuire –
I have a love/hate relationship with these boots. I’m a welder and mechanic, so they’ve been bathed in oil and showered in sparks daily.
My pair are 10 months old and they’ve looked terrible for the last 6 months at least. They still perform well in most respects, but the upper materials are pretty much garbage. I would love to see this boot with a better oil-resistant rubber toe cap that covers the exact area of the safety toe, metal lace eyes and metal speed lace clips, and solid synthetic leather except the tongue, no mesh windows.
With these changes, they’re a 5 star boot all day and I would expect 2+ years out of them. As they stand, it’s a 2.5 star boot.
Pic included as they stand with a new pair of laces.
The good:
Has speed lace clips, a must in my opinion.
Super light for a safety toe boot. I bought 5 or 6 different pairs of work boots before selecting these, they were the lightest by far. It is also pretty strong
Great outsole, very grippy on concrete wet with oil or antifreeze.
Fits well and super comfortable out of the box like most Merrells
If you like the standard Merrell Moab II Mid hiking boot, these fit and feel like those with an additional 1/2″ of sole height.
The interior of the boot has held up way better than expected, considering I wear them loose most of the time.
The upper has not separated from the lower at the toe crease, so despite having a giant hole where the vent panel is, they’re still waterproof in shallow puddles. That toe crease has been the death of waterproofness on every other work boot I’ve owned in the last 20 years.
Despite the vent material failing everywhere else, the tongue has stayed in decent shape, I’ve not had a single hot foot from a weld BB that came through the tongue. Through the side mesh, toe mesh, between tongue and foot, absolutely.
The bad:
Rubber toe cap is a joke, the material is not oil resistant and was delaminating and stitches ripping out in the first 2 months.
Vented sections are super delicate, especially to sparks, both insole panels are gone in my boots, and have been for a while (they’re 10 months old).
Included laces are weak and very susceptible to sparks as well.
Lace eyes are fabric, speed lace clips are plastic. I haven’t broken any yet, but I also leave my boots tied and pull them off at the speed lace clips, and most of the time I don’t cinch them tight, so the fabric loops haven’t really been stressed.
Overall looked like a beat up 2 year old boot in 3-4 months, so the upper materials in general are a bit lacking.

fit was good but the sole was thin vs. Previous shoes
Me –
These are good long lasting boots. Only complaint is that the tongue seam can cut into your foot after a while.
Fred –
I work in a warehouse standing up for 12:30 hours. And the shoes are very very uncomfortable.
Also after one day of use make my feet stink really bad, sign of cheap materials probably…
James –
I wear a size 9 Nike, found out through the years that it translates to a size 8 boot. Insanely nice cushion and fit, a little heavy. Wearing them a few days before work is a bonus.
Joe –
These may be the best work boots I’ve purchased and I’m 68 yo and have been in construction most of my life. They are extremely comfortable and provide great ankle support which is most welcome as I have pretty bad arthritis in my left ankle. I do wear these with ‘Good Feet’ orthotics and I can go all day working on my property. The composite toe does it’s job. One of these logs dropped on my toe and I never felt any ‘give’. Highly recommend these work boots.
Vince –
Love to fit! Very light weight. Comfortable to walk in. Not to hot or cold to wear all day

Fits really good, I still added a midsole to make them extra comfortable, but they were ok without it. They look pretty good l

Honestly better than I expected. They last, I mean last, I use them as a way to brake when I pedal my bike. Tread last, warm, and definitely worth the money.
Drew –
Bought these boots (in black) for duty boots as a firefighter on a Rescue Company. Love ’em. Been a wearer of Merrell MOAB mids for hiking and western backcountry hunting for a few years. Now I made them my duty boots. Great for working on rope, side of a tower or hiking in a trail with all our gear for a rescue. Good comfort, great grip, good looks.
