The Moab 3 tactical is a quality boot, but it’s more of a traditional duty boot and less of a Moab. My past two pairs of duty boots were Moab 2 Tactical, and they were very comfortable and lasted over a year of daily law enforcement use. I thought the 3 would be a good update, but it wasn’t. The 3 is not nearly as comfortable as the 2 right out of the box and in overall comfort, the 3 is a step backwards. We have over 10 pairs of Merrell footwear in my house and this is the only one I regret buying. I was able to find a pair of 2’s online (Merrell doesn’t have them in my size anymore) and the 3’s will end up in the closet. Sorry Merrell, unfortunately, I do not recommend these boots.
Pros: The rubber material around the top on the Moab 2 tactical has been removed, so your pant legs don’t get stuck as easily. Always an issue with mid height boots. It’s still a quality, well made boot.
Cons: Comfort – the 3 is much less comfortable than the 2. Price – the 2 to 3 update came with a price increase. After wearing them for a couple weeks, they aren’t worth the price.
