When I first tried this shoe on in the 8.5 I ordered I thought it would not work at all. There is a little piece that extends in the middle front of the shoe that pushed into my middle toes when bending my foot when walking. This problem was resolved when I sent for a size 8, but then that did not allow enough space between toes and front of shoe. I wore the 8.5 around the house and it became much more comfortable and the only time it pressed into my toes was when I bent my foot with much exaggeration. So, I am keeping them. I also compared this shoe with the Moab 2 Gortex. The Siren Edge was sleeker and looked more like a tennis shoe than a clunky hiker, which I liked. So, I decided to keep both. The Moab 2 for true hiking and waterproofing and the Siren Edge more for traveling and taking walks. I hope I am happy with that decision and not duplicating myself too much. I do think the Moab 2 is sturdier and will hold up the longest.

Perfect fit for my wide foot and keeps my feet dry walking on rain drenched paths in the spring!

The big thing about these is how firm they are. Style really suited me, size is fine, but those are subjective. Objectively, this is a really supportive shoe that should be excellent for trail hiking or long days in a city. Flip side, it’s not going to be super flexible, so probably not a running shoe.

Bought these shoes for walking but because they are a little lighter and narrower I’ve decided to use them as training shoes for indoors. I love the look and feel.

First time I’ve tried Merrell brand and so far I’m impressed. This shoe has all I was looking for. I have plantar fasciitis and the arch support is enough for me to walk in them without my extra insoles.
I have already tested them in the Washington rain and they passed with flying colors. Also good traction for walking our dog in the woods.

Walked 5 miles first time wearing and they were great. Tiny blister on top of small toe but that was from sock seam.

Finally found a true pair of waterproof walking shoes for walking my dog everyday and NOT getting my socks and toes wet!! The shoes are nice looking and have good support. Tread is excellent for walking on many different surfaces. The style is nice and fit is perfect.

I need a wide toe box and even though this doesn’t look that wide, it feels perfect. I use my custom orthotic in place of the standard arch support. The heel is not quite as tight as I’d like, but it hasn’t caused any rubbing or other problem.

They fit okay. They aren’t as “cushioned “ as I had hoped. Seem a little stiff along the sides. I walk about 4 miles a day and first time out I experienced discomfort.

I loved these when I first got them. Now, 4 months later, the right shoe is no longer water proof. Pretty disappointing as this is the reason I purchased them and for the price. I’m unable to find where the breach is, but my foot is now wet after after morning walk.

No more morning dew from grass making my feet wet!
What am I going to do with my other non waterproof sneakers ???

The sizing ran true to size for me. My foot is narrow in the heel and wide by my toes because of a bunion. These fit great and were so comfortable and gave great traction hiking on a rocky path. Cleaned up perfectly after being covered in mud. Very happy with this purchase as I think the styling is very cute as well.

Love love love these!! I didn’t have time to break them in, so my first day wearing them I was hiking out west and they were sooooo comfortable! I am in shock how comfortable they are and how great the grip is on the bottom.

I wore these out of the box on a rocky 3 mile hike. They were very light weight, comfortable, supportive, and great traction. I was also caught in a rainstorm during a hike with these, and spent 45 minutes hiking through rain and mud. My feet stayed dry! I normally wear a 7.5W, but I ordered these in a standard 8, and the fit is fine.

Love the wide toe box & great support.

I’ve worn 8.5 in Merrells forever, but these were too tight. Had to return fo size 9 which feels great. I ordered a different style of Merrells at the same time, also size 8.5, and they were too big. Returned those for an 8, which is just right. Get it together Merrell, especially now when shopping in person, and actually trying on shoes for fit and style is pretty much impossible. I guess I need to order three sizes of each style to get the best fit. What a waste of energy… Love the shoes, not the sizing inconsistency.

So happy Merrell is offering hiking shoes in a wide width. I was about to look at men’s shoes in order to get a comfortable toe box. These shoes work great on local groomed trails. Very comfortable for hours.

Very comfortable!! Based on other reviews, I previously ordered these 1/2 size bigger than my normal size 10 and they were too big…..the 10 was perfect and great on my first hike out!!! I have a narrow fit, so they are a little wide for me but the laces allowed me to tighten them enough to be comfortable.

I have a hard time finding comfortable shoes. These seemed not too bad, but looked like they had been worn as both shoes had a large horizontal crease which dug into my foot with every step. The bottom of the shoe looked new, but it seemed to have been worn in the wrong places for me. Despite this, I would have kept them if they were comfortable. Had to return.

These are the best hiking trailing shoes ever, we had gone to trails at the beach with soft hot sand, climbing rocks, running on grass, they are prepared for everything, comfortable, sturdy I love them
Megan –
I love these shoes! The purple and silver are very cute and extremely comfortable. I walk in heavy dew and these keep my feet dry. The tread is perfect for walking on trails. It has extra grip for the grass and trails through the woods. My feet are wide and these fit perfectly. You can see in the photos they get covered in grass and dirt and always clean up easily looking good as new.

After four months of heavy wear, these are no longer waterproof at all. I come back from walking in the wet grass with soaking wet feet every day. One shoe is also starting to separate from the sole in a couple of places. I may have caused some of this damage by leaving them in the sun to dry. They were great during the first couple of months, and I’m still wearing them in dry conditions. I like the style, and the fit is perfect. Very good traction, although it looks like some of the treads are wearing down, which is surprising after only four months.

These shoes fit my feet the best of any I have tried for walking in the woods. I have a medium width foot but a narrow heel. However, I am returning my second pair for the same issue. The loops that hold the laces break. This time it has occurred within TWO days. I have barely worn them. I Have a really old pair of the same shoe that has been worn to a nub, yet they have been fine. I am terribly disappointed with Merrell’s current quality.

Took them to Ireland on vacation. Walked about 50+ miles while we were there. My feet never hurt & stayed dry during our rain days. Love these shoes – they are light weight, have great heel & arch support, & are waterproof.

Originally I would have given a rating of 5 stars. They are comfortable and I loved them. (Except the laces never stayed tied until using double knots.)
I did get use out of them, but they still has a lot of use to give and the lace ribbon on the left shoe pulled out. The stitching holding it broke. I am now in a quandary because on one hand I would love the same shoe, but do I want to pay for another knowing that the same thing can happen.
