I love Merrells and wanted to get a new pair of real hiking boots to replace my aging Keens. Since I have superwide (EE, not kidding) feet, I stick to a few choice brands that fit me (New Balance, Merrell, Keens). I usually hike in trail runners, but when I’m doing backpacking or trails with cactus or serious rocks, I wear boots. I’ve learned to wear waterproof boots to keep my feet as dry as possible. Shipping was lightning fast. I always order 1 size up on boots and wear double socks. I got to Zappos because some retailers don’t stock the Wide, E or EE shoes like Zappos. These were great right out of the box even though Merrell only has “wide” as a size selection. I immediately took them on 3-day 34 mile backpack trip in the sierras. I was dry and comfortable the whole trip which was a bit grueling.

Fit, size and feel right on target. Feels like the good old Merrill I started wearing 20+ years ago. Over the last few years Merrill’s feel deteriorated. The soles felt as though they had rocks in them because you could feel too much of the tread through the insoles. It seemed the soles were too thin or too weak and it made them too uncomfortable to keep. I tried and returned several different shoes but finally gave up on Merrill. A few years past before I decided to try the Moab 3, it’s good to be back.

Work great in the rain or in the sand. They are my work shoes
Egor J –
Very comfortable boots with arch support. The only issue for me that shoe laces getting untied after a walk.
Old M –
Extremely comfortable, fit perfectly. Can wear them all day no problem.
Cles –
Bought them for my husband and he absolutely loves them. Great for hiking in snow and super comfortable.

One of the best pair of hiking boots that I have bought in a long time. The fit is excellent and they look well made. The only drawback is the insole as it is just a thin piece of foam with no support at all but that is what keeps Dr. Scholl’s in business. I did a 8 mile hike and then a 7 mile hike both with a little rain, after only wearing them for a week, and my feet stayed warm and dry with no blisters or even hotspots.

-Almost perfect EXCEPT- unlike all the fantastic moabs I have worn out literally 20 pairs of, “THE MOAB “PRIME” HAS A STUPID SEAM SEWN ACROSS THE TOP OF THE HEEL INSIDE” that ruins an otherwise fantastic waterproof all leather boot.
Jake –
Phenomenally comfortable. I’ve put less than 20 miles on these shoes and they’re already broken in. Seem well put together as well.

Sizes run small !! Been a size 11 for years even bought a 1/2 size larger and still too small. Wore these on a Bighorn Sheep hunt in n Arizona and about killed my feet!! Love the boot just should be warned about size discrepancy, I guess I’ll have to give them away to somebody, still practically brand new.

Merrell Moab 3 fit was perfect for me, ‘W’ indicated wide and actually was wide, length was true as advertised. Support is comfortable but foe me, it could use a little stiffer sole and higher arch. The interior is absolutely plush, great, and makes it the most comfortable shoe I have ever worn (I’ll be 80 years old in 3 days and have bought many shoes in my lifetime).

ALL WAS GOOD
Steve –
Perfect fit. Cannot believe how lightweight and comfortable these are for a hiking boot. Highly recommend
Chris A –
Whether on trail or the beaches of Washington state and Puget Sound, have to shout out on the comfort and reliability of these boots.
Ben –
Defective right out of the box. The insole was so lumpy it felt like there was gravel underneath. At least the return shipping was free. Merrell used to make quality boots, but not anymore.
Mike S –
this is the second pair as i wore out the first the past 3 years. this pair has the same great quality and comfort
David –
I love this all leather look for in the office. Going to need a second pair for outside!
Adam B –
I bought the black MOAB 3 Prime Mid. I’ve been mowing a commercial route in the them 60 plus hours a week. They are very comfortable, light for a hiking style boot. They get wet every morning from spring rain and most always this time of year dew on AM grass. My go to boot the past 6-7 years has been OBOZ. These two are very similar in style but I’m liking the MOAB PRIME better. Not to mention they are $40-45 less money. We buy all of our mowing guys boots so 4 of our crew members have made the switch and feedback is “So FarSo Good Thanks Again! And if they send out shirts, hats etc the crew would enjoy them

Wear incredibly well and are highly comfortable. One of the best shoes out there

Not a comfortable shoe. Probably good with thick socks and hiking, but definately not for a casual walking shoe.

Overall, a good shoe, very uncomfortable to wear for any long-distance walking
Andrew –
True Merrill.

Super comfortable, warm, well made shoes.

They are very comfortable, I put an extra footpad in for more comfort but were good before I did that . I just like a softer feel
Steven –
I liked the way the boots fit my feet. The size was great (I have wide feet) and from the time I put them on, they were soft enough that no pressure was felt on my toes. Happy Feet!
