• The APMA’s Seal of Acceptance identifies products of exceptional quality that are made with a consumer-first approach to comfort and safety. The APMA sees the Seal as a way of helping consumers make informed decisions about foot health.WHY IS IT REALLY IMPORTANT FOR KIDS?
• According to the APMA, nearly 78% of Americans have experienced foot problems as a result of wearing uncomfortable or ill-fitting shoes during childhood.
• The feet of young children are soft and pliable and can grow up to a half size every 2-4 months depending on their age, so well-constructed, comfortable and flexible footwear is important. Wearing ill-fitting, uncomfortable or stiff, rigid shoes can have lasting, long-term effects to developing feet. Feet are still growing into their teen years making quality and comfort important whether it’s their first pair of shoes or their fifteenth. - Product measurements were taken using size 8.5 Toddler, width M. These shoes helped my active almost two grandson considerably. He was sometimes tripping forward while wearing bulkier thick high-tops by another major brand. He now has much better stability and agility, and is realizing he can run! We all like Merrill’s. For all of you parents, it is safer in terms of stability for your toddler to wear a shoe that fits properly rather than a larger size he or she will grow into. An extra $50 over a few months is worth your little loved one not falling. Donate to those in need when they outgrow the shoe!

I wish these would have worked for my son but they were way too tight. The size was even recommended by a zappos customer service member.

With so few children’s shoe stores open finding shoes for fat toddler feet is no easy feat! This shoe is very attractive but was just too narrow. The New Balance extra wide and Storm by Tsukihoshi fit much better. Though we did find that different color Tsukihoshi Storm style varied in width.

These run small. Size up at least half a size

My two YO tears through shoes like a gum wrapper. Literally wore a hole in his last pair of Nikes in 3 weeks. These have held up and they seem comfortable. Will be buying another pair once he outgrows this pair.

I had to return these because I couldn’t get them on my toddler’s feet. I ordered extra wide but for some reason I couldn’t get his foot inside.

I ordered extra-wide (XW) thinking it might work over my son’s AFO brace. What a joke. They are SO narrow. Returned immediately.

This is my soon-to-be 4 year old’s second pair of Merrell Kids Trail Quest (Toddler) shoes. I initially got them especially for hiking but she likes wearing them and does so almost daily (hiking, walking, playground climbing, preschool, etc). The machine washability is a convenient, useful feature. I will say they seem to run small and narrow so I sized up accordingly. She was recently measured as an 8 at the kid’s shoe store. Her first pair of these was a 9W and was starting to feel snug so I ordered these in a 9.5W and 10W. She wanted to keep the 10W (she said the 9.5W was “too tight”). I got the “Gunsmoke Suede” color–I think the tan base will be durable and the orange accents are vibrant. They may even hold up well enough for my younger child to inherit : )

This is our toddler’s 3rd pair of this shoe. She wears it everywhere — hiking, running, playing, etc… they stay in amazing shape until she outgrows them. They’re often still in good enough shape to save for her younger sibling, despite her wearing them nearly daily playing in the mountains.

Great quality shoe. Took a beating. I like how the tread is super sticky with all the ridges. They provide great traction compared to Nike and have a great foot bed for comfort.
Held up enough, so I can hand them down to my 2nd born when she gets there. I just ordered 2nd pair of these a whole size too big for my now 3 year old in a (7.5). She affectionately calls them her purple shoes. I’m hoping she can get 2 years out of them!

My daughter ran Bloomsday in them and did not fall/trip once, It’s a nice shoe we haven’t had to wash them yet but I like the option and she climbs really well in them. We plan to go hiking this summer with them.

Love it, I buy it in the next size up so we are ready as he grows

Great every where sandals for a child comfortable tough

I bought these shoes for my 5 year old daughter after she went through/destroyed all of her other outdoor shoes in a matter of months. We have been through countless pairs of cheaper shoes – so I thought we’d give these a try! They have been amazing! They are still in great shape after 4 months outside- including summer camp, lots of hiking (on some pretty wooded trails), and daily recess. I bought the next size up so that we are ready to go once they’re too small. I think we’ll always have these on hand at home!

Great shoes for hiking and just generally playing on slick surfaces where the added traction makes a difference. These fit snug compared to other footwear in this size and width.
Chpa –
Nice lightweight shoe for toddlers that allows multi-use activities like climbing on the playground, running around, walking and having fun. Comfortable and stylish.

I have had such a hard time finding shoes wide enough for my toddler. These fit perfectly and he actually leaves them on his feet.

Lightweight & fits great. My 4-year old is a big fan – great for hikes & for running around the playground.

I bought this for my almost 3 1/2 YO. They fit great. He will use them for walking, running, riding a bike, playing on the playground.

I bought this for my almost 3 1/2 YO. They are a little bigger, his true size is 9. But he still wears them. He will use them for walking, running, riding a bike, playing on the playground.

My grandson loves these shoes. He tells me, in his three year old voice, that they make him run fast. They fit well, clean easily and are his favorite shoes.

My grandson has very wide feet. These shoes are easy to get on and he seems to be very comfortable in them, to the point where he doesn’t want to wear any other shoes. This is the second pair that I have bought for him.

Purchased for my twin grandsons (almost 2yrs) and they love wearing them. Easy on and easy off and fit seems perfect. Love the half size for toddler as they are between sizes.
Bobfred –
Have had these shoes for almost a year for my 4 & 8 year Olds- have held up super well and just bought the next size up for each.
