It’s really thermal insulated. Durable materials All in one.

I bought these for my husband whom a size 9 medium always fits. The entry into these boots was so tight that he couldn’t squeeze his foot into the boot at all. So I can’t tell you how they run; wide, narrow, short, long or if it has arch support. Back they go. Whoever designed these boots needed to add either elastic to the gusset or make the opening wider. Impossible!

Every shoe I wear is a Merrill and I really like them. This boot is no exception but for one reason. They are very hard to get on! This is no easy slip on. Initially it took lots of pulling to get these over my heel and almost returned them. If I had been in a shoe store I would have not purchased these. I’m getting better at getting them on but if have back issues or trouble bending over I would pass on these. Once on they are comfortable and nicely insulated. Getting them off is no problem. Otherwise I’m happy with the purchase.
Tall M –
Very confortable and warm
Great support
Use a shoe horn to slip into boots, easier to get foot in boot.
Nice casual boot for any occasion.

Awesome lightweight waterproof and all day comfortable

I wanted boots that were quick and easy to put on. When I first got them it was an epic fight to pull them on. Now that I’ve had them a few weeks, they’ve broken in and are much easier to work with. The left still seems to have a little more fight in it than the right though. Not sure why. My feet are pretty symmetrical.
Once you get them on they are nice and comfortable. I was a little worried they’d be loose and not suitable for walking as the upper doesn’t really do much for gripping your ankle. But these boots stay put and don’t move around while you walk. My colleagues and I take a walk at lunch time and these boots are great to walk in. They feel very light which is a nice bonus. I’d say the fit is true to size leaning toward snug but not too snug.
Would I take these boots on a hike in the woods? No. That’s not what they’re for. They’re meant for going from house to car to office and back, a trip to the mall or a walk around the neighbourhood.

These are like “magic” slip-ons… They are easy to get on with the zipper, but feel totally solid once on! Comfortable, warm, and hopefully will keep me from falling during the icy Colorado winter!

I return them, because it was too hard to get in and out of it. I think the zipper is too short.

Not only waterproof but comfortable, warm, and easy to put on and take off.

I have both these boots and the equivalent lace-up model (I couldn’t decide, so I bought both), and I slightly prefer these. The sizing is the same and both are comfortable, but these are quicker to take on and off and I can remove them without having to sit down, which is nice since these aren’t “in the house” shoes. The ankle is a bit higher which puts a slight pressure on your shin (at least when new), but it’s not uncomfortable and on the plus side means your ankles don’t get cold when the wind blows. The tread on both is great and hardly slips on ice when other people are having trouble. Both shoes are warm and overall I would say the lace-ups are better for hiking where you want the most support and don’t mind the extra time to put on/off, but these are better for running errands or dog walking, when the convenience of easy on/off is a bigger factor.

These boots are as advertised–well insulated, urban boots. They are hard to get into, but I’ve had similar experiences with interior side-zip boots before, and I’m expecting these to loosen up after I’ve had them a bit longer. They are expensive, but I plan to use them for several years.
Ed –
A bit tight even when unzipped. Other than that I’m happy with them.

I’ve owned these boots about one month and I’ve worn them about 20 times, usually in snow. They were uncomfortable on my ankles initially but they seem to be broken in now and are much more comfortable. They have been waterproof, as advertised, and relatively warm, unless I spend too much time in snow. They then feel slightly wet inside but are really only a bit cold. Overall, I like them.

I have been using these all winter in Buffalo NY. I commute with them, snow blow and hike. So far they have exceeded my expectations. I did add an orthotic under the merrel sole but that’s it.

This is my third pair of these boots. By far the most comfortable, reliable boot I’ve owned. I would highly recommend these boots, money well spent.
BobbyVette –
Purchased them as a quick slip-on in the mornings when taking the dogs outside in the snow for a walk around the course. Keep your feet really dry even when walking through six inches or more of wt, heavy snow. Comfortable to walk a couple miles in. Only suggestion would be to order them 1 size larger than you normally wear as they take some effort to slip on, especially with thicker winter socks.
Happy C –
Sturdy and supportive. Expect many years of use from these.

These are nice and warm and very comfortable, they also have a good grip in both snow and mud, good boots!

I bought these to replace my Garmont boots which finally gave up the ghost (the midsole material crumbled after 10 years) and I am very happy, so far. I’m a 13.5 and the 14M is just right with any type of socks. Sometimes I just slip them on barefoot to take the dog out and they feel the 1/2 size bigger they truly are, but when zipped up they’re snug enough. The inner fleece-like lining is definitely comfortable & warm. The reports they are hard to get on are sorta true, but I just angle my heel to the outside & wiggle while pushing down and they snick right in without the need to hold the boot. Honestly, being a zip up design they need to be snug so you don’t roll an ankle while wearing them, right? The light insulation has been perfect for the winter shoveling and light dog walking I purchased them for. My wife wished for a little more stylish choice, but once your pant leg covers the plain upper they look like shoes anyways. The traction has been flawless on mixed surfaces. DO NOT WEAR THEM ON NICE POLISHED WOOD or other glossy finish floors. The ice compound contact areas can mar them like fine sandpaper if you walk around inside. Just leave them at the door like I do & you’ll be fine. All around, I’m very happy after the first winter with them.

I have started using this shoe as my go to farm shoe in the fall, winter , spring. Dew, mud, manure have a way of ruining any shoe but with very little care these shoes seem to come through easily. What really gets me is the comfort of a warm shoe that supports my feet in such a way that makes me just want to wear them over any other shoe. I can hose them off and easily slip them off when I come into our mud room. They might even be suitable for hiking if I get the time for that sort of thing.
David K –
They were clunky. Easy to get on and off. I returned them because they didn’t look very good.

too much effort to put on and off
Suzanne –
Too small.

I’m very happy with these boots. The size is true (10.5 for me), and they’re comfortably warm. The height is good – they’re a little higher than my other lace-up boots, and that helps keep my ankles warmer and snow out. The side zipper operates smoothly and stays up securely.
These are the first side-entry boots I’ve ever had, and it took me a little time to realize that, for me, it’s best to put my foot in vertically while sitting. I use an orthotic insert with all of my shoes and boots; for these I’m using my thinnest insert and that is very comfortable. No comment about style – they’re the boots I use for walking the dog, and he’s not picky about footwear.
