I bought this model and the Accentor 3. The Alverstone was more stylish . For example, the laces holders we stitched on an angle as opposed to straight across in the Accentor. Even though they were both size 8M, I went with the Alverstone 2 because the it was narrower around the ankle. I have very small ankles. The Alverstone seemed to support it better than the Accentor 3

I have flat feet and I pronate. I usually wear a size 9 but have noticed each year I have to go up a half size. I am now wearing size 10.5! I’m 5’5″, 132lbs. These shoes were just uncomfortable and didn’t think sizing up a half size would make a difference.

Great boot. It fit true to size for me. I’m an 8.5 who usually gets a 9 in hiking boots. The 8.5 actually felt better here.

I really like the styling on these hiking boots as they are not as heavy nor clunky as other hiking boots. Unfortunately, the foot bed was not comfortable as other Merrell shoes I have had in the past.

The size it’s right but it’s slippery.
Kathryn –
Like all my other Merrell hiking boots, they just work right out of the box.

I’m sorry, I can’t really give a true review because as soon as I put them on, they hurt my feet. I didn’t even lace them up. The arch support just didn’t feel right. I have a high arch. I wish that wasn’t the case. I loved the way they look, and I wish they fit right.

The boots fit perfect..just not perfect for me as it caused pain in my right ankle when trying it out!
Linnae –
Really comfortable boot that is easily adjusted to my narrow foot.

Attractive hiker but the toe box was too narrow.

Good for hiking in woods, natural surface path, precise lacing; best for winter temps, maybe too hot for summer

The hiking boots are real comfortable. No seams or pressure points to aggregate the feet. I recommend.

Good quality

I returned these boots. They felt hard, flat and sloppy. Uncomfortable and with no support. They feel like a cheap pair of boots, definitely not something to wear for hiking!

Merrell does it again! Ready to go the minute I put them on-no break-in time needed. Sturdy and ready for Upstate New York mud season. But even my grandsons think they are cool!

I wear the shoes while walking my dogs through the city streets and parks. Rain or shine city hikes have been accomplished in these boots so I need waterproof boots to trek on concrete through grass, gravel, rocks, dirt, and mud. And…. the occasional bio-waste from other folks canines – ick. The treads look like they will easily dislodge the goop with a few good swipes against the grass. The boots are comfortable too!
Carolyn –
Very comfortable walking around the house. Wide toe box which is great! Nice ankle support without beingj too stiff. Love the blue color a change from the usual darker colors.
Teri –
The Merrell Alverstone looks great. It is plenty wide in the toe box, light weight, and fit my narrow heel without feeling sloppy. I ordered my usual size. The top, however, just didn’t feel right. As I wore it around the house, I felt like it might give me a blister around my ankles. I hope this review helps, I have found that reviews vary so much they are not helpful at all!

The fit and size were true to size. However, I was very disappointed with the quality. Compared to my old Merrell comparable boots, these felt very”chintzy.” The fabric was very inferior, the boot was not comfortable…….I felt the need to wear much thicker socks and add a cushy insole insert.

I’ve been looking for a replacement pair of sturdy, comfortable boots that are water-resistant but breathable for doing heavy yard work. I needed a pair that I can wear for 8 hours or more at a time. These are perfect – give me great arch and ankle support. I didn’t think I’d like the green color, but they are actually pretty nice looking – hide the dirt and grass stains. Highly recommend.

Felt a little flashy

great fit. Half size up for thicker socks and mountain hikes. Good support, comforable, nice for medium challenging hikes.

Awesome hiking boot, great for even short walks in mud and muck. Comfortable for hours! Very happy with this purchase.

Nice but just not quite the fit I was looking for.
